5 VERY Good Reasons to Dump Him
by Chloe ◊ November 27, 2008
I'm sure I don't have to tell you this, but... relationships are very complicated things! Every relationship has its problems, its little hiccups that need to be worked out. And most of the time, it's important to make the effort to try to work out your problems before making big decisions; like deciding that you want out. But other times, you can dump him with no thought at all. All you need is the right reason.
5. You don't like him. This sounds a little vicious, perhaps, but I don't mean it that way. If you're dating somebody and realize that you're really not into him, you need to get out immediately. There's no real reason to discuss what's wrong or why you want to leave the relationship. How you feel is how you feel, and if you don't have strong feelings for the person you're with, it's time to get out, for his sake and for yours.
4. He's excessively jealous. They say that excessive jealousy is one of the first warning signs of a potentially abusive relationship. If your boyfriend is excessively jealous, it's a good idea to get out of the relationship. Sure, he may have legitimate reasons for feeling as he does, but if he gets in a screaming rage because he saw you give your guy friend a hug, he has issues. And here's a piece of news: it's not your responsibility to deal with his issues. Drop the relationship and let him work through his rage and possessiveness on his own.
3. He's mean to you. Whether picking fights just for the fun of it, or teasing you in front of his friends because you forgot to shave your legs, dating a mean guy is always a mistake. Even if he's really sweet sometimes. Look at it this way: most guys don't start being nasty to their partners until well into the relationship. If he's ready to treat you badly when you've only been dating a short time, it doesn't bode well for the future. Do yourself a favor and find yourself a guy who knows how to treat you right. Mean-spirited just isn't sexy.
2. He cheats. You thought this was going to be number one, didn't you? Well, there are worse things a guy can do in a relationship than cheat... but not many. If somebody you're dating cheats on you, you are 100% within your rights to dump him without looking back. Does he deserve an explanation or a discussion? Probably not. Unless you feel you want to take the time to work things out, there's no reason to try; and he hasn't earned the right to ask. Move on guilt free, lick your wounds, and find a more faithful guy.
1. He hits you. Even once. This should be a no-brainer, but unfortunately it's not. Too many otherwise-strong women (and plenty of not-so-strong ones) find themselves pulled into a horrific situation because they thought and hoped that that "just one time" would happen only once. But it almost never does. If he hits you once, there's a very good chance that he'll do it again... and again. You owe it to yourself not to take any chances. Get out immediately, and don't look back.
