Every girl likes to be romanced. Thoughtful gestures and shows of love and affection go a long way with us. But seduction and romance can also be complicated at times. While some guys are good at always striking the right tone, other guys tend to do too little... or, even worse, do too much (this is common on internet dating sites!).
It's strange how thin the line can be between a sweet, romantic gesture and a show of creepiness. And unfortunately, it's easier for guys to cross that line than most of them think. Want to make a romantic gesture or seduce a girl, but aren't sure how it'll come off? Read on to make sure you're not coming across as a weirdo stalker instead of a romantic Romeo.
Leaving flowers on her car or on her doorstep after one date. Hopefully, you know well enough that this one is... CREEPY. If you meet a girl on an internet dating site and start showering her in gifts right away, she's going to feel weirded out, not romanced.
Shaving her name into your pubic hair. Um, this one is CREEPY. Even if you've been dating a girl for, say, two years, this is never going to be sexy or romantic. The best you can get with this one is funny... but it's never going to make her want to jump in your pants.
Showing up with a flower for the first date. To most girls, this will be SEXY. As long as it's not a single red rose (which seems a little melodramatic), chances are she'll love your little gift. The best flowers to choose are simple, cheerful ones like gerbera daisies or tulips. And give her just one, not a whole bouquet.
Standing outside her window and singing to her. Most of the time, this one will come off as CREEPY. Sure, if you're just kidding around, it can be funny. Or if you've been together for a long time and want to make a romantic gesture, it'll be sexy. But if you've been internet dating and just met for the first time, she'll probably call the police. This one's best avoided.
Calling to make sure she got home safely. For most girls, especially the old fashioned ones, this is SEXY. It shows that you like her and that you care about her. Generally, it comes off as a sweet gesture.
Dressing up as a vampire because you know she loves "Twilight." Is your girl obsessed with Edward Cullen from Twilight? Unless you're engaging in a little planned role-play in the bedroom, this one is going to be CREEPY, of course! And in more ways than one.
Telling her you've been waiting for her for millennia. This is the kind of CREEPY thing that makes me cringe when I hear men say it. Heck, I think this is creepy even if somebody says it to a woman they've been with for years! "Where have you been all my life," is one thing. This is something different. Getting too dramatic with your romance is generally a turn off. After all, you don't live in a romance novel.
Surprising her at home with a picnic dinner. As long as you've been dating a little while (at least a month or so), this is SEXY. But if you've just met, it can seem a little (or a lot) stalkerish. So don't do this too much, and don't do it too soon. It's best to wait until your relationship is exclusive.
Playing "Every Breath you Take," in the car on the way home. And singing along. CREEPY, CREEPY, CREEPY! 'Nuff said.
The truth is, when it comes to deciding whether some gesture you want to make is creepy or sexy or romantic, the important question is: how long have you been dating? What seems like a loving and romantic gesture to your girlfriend of six months will make the woman you've been on six dates with look at you like a stalker.
So ask yourself, what kind of girl is she? Does she fawn over romantic movies, or is she the more practical type? Have you told each other "I love you" yet? Where you are in your relationship (and who you're dating) has a lot to do with the kind of romance you should employ to win over your girl. Just as with sex, affection, and everything else, there's no "one size fits all" approach to romancing a woman.
And when in doubt, remember this: if it's possible for her to obtain a restraining order against you after you've made your romantic gesture, it's CREEPY.
Good luck!
