Finding A Date Online
Trials and tribulations of attracting a date on the internet.
by Katarina_HD ◊ June 26, 2008
It takes quite a bit of perseverance to find a date using Internet Dating. It takes a lot of practice and a significant time commitment at the very least. However, time and patience can and do pay off for many on the dating scene. That’s why internet dating is so popular; it can and does work!
Here are a few pointers to keep in mind to help you find a date online.
First and foremost, you must have a completed profile up. It is very difficult to attract anyone if you have not completed your profile in its entirety and given someone else a glimpse into who you are. Your profile is your calling card; so take the time to fill it out. Be as honest as you can and don’t use foul language.

Your Photo
Your photo is probably just as important as your profile. Ensure that you have a current photo up and that you are smiling. It gives the wrong impression to look at someone who looks miserable. You may be the nicest person, but if you don’t have a good photo of you smiling, then you can unwittingly detract a would be date.

Socialize
The most important factor of finding a date online is socialization. Learn to be a social butterfly! You must make the initiative to begin to socialize and socialize often and consistently. Always make the first move if you are interested in someone and wait for his or her reply. Ensure that your messages make sense, have good grammar and are not demanding in any way. Avoid the use of internet acronyms, just because he or she is online looking for a date doesn’t mean they are up and up on all of those crazy short forms.
Use all available media. Nudge, poke, email and chat with as many would be potentials as possible. The more you put yourself out there, the greater chance you will have in finding a date.

Write Them Back
Follow up on any correspondence you receive in a timely manner. Be friendly and courteous at all times and don’t string someone along if you are not interested. Tell them you are not interested and move on.

Be Positive
Think positively and write positively as well. No one is looking for someone who is miserable and negative. However, don’t be too eager either. People get suspicious if you say that nothing ever bothers you and you are happy all the time. People won’t believe you and they will just stay clear of you.

Be Realistic
You may need to go through many ‘dates’ before you find the right person who just clicks for you. Don’t let a negative or disappointing experience detract you from your goal. Success comes after many attempts and many failures. Keep at it and before you know it, when you least expect it, someone comes along and will be the right one for you.
