I Love Sales

When the economy is suffering, the majority of people tend to struggle to get from one month to the next. Paying the bills gets difficult, jobs are in jeopardy, and there is very little money leftover at the end of the month for non-necessities. But if you're one of those lucky people who doesn't have to put "recently unemployed" on your free internet dating profile, you probably have a bit more money to spend than many of the people around you. And while the recession is still in full swing, the smartest thing may be to spend that money on a few items in particular. A recession tends to affect the prices of things across the board. But for some very specific items, the struggling economy has driven prices incredibly low.

Have a little extra money to spend and want to spend it wisely? Strike while the iron is hot. Read on to learn the 6 things you should be buying right now if you can.

Luxury Clothing

When a recession hits, the number of people able to buy luxury clothing, like evening dresses, tuxedos, and cashmere or silk, dwindles down to a fraction of what it used to be. But before the recession begins, clothing and fabric manufacturers don't know to cut down their production rates for the year to come (and clothing retailers didn't know not to buy as much as they usually would). So during the first year of the recession, these items are sitting in stores, priced as low as possible in order to help struggling retailers gain a little extra capital. The prices being seen now are historically low; but they probably won't last past the end of 2009, so take advantage of them now.

Vacations

Right now, many airlines are announcing future cuts in service to make up for a sluggish economy. But as it stands, many airlines and hotels are scrambling to get as many customers as they can, offering unbeatable deals to get you on board. Domestic flights are almost 10% less than they were last year, and international flights almost 7% less. So if you met somebody who lives across the world on an internet dating site, now's the time to plan your visit.

Furniture and Decorating

Again, manufacturers and retailers had very little time to plan for the current recession. So stores are stocked full of furniture, decorative items, sheets, and other things for the home that just aren't being sold. And prices are falling dramatically, with discounts of up to 70% for some kinds of items.

Digital Cameras and Camcorders

Just like computers, the digital camera industry is really slowing down due to the recession. Because just about everybody who would want a digital camera already has one, sales have reduced dramatically; for most people, it just isn't the right time for an upgrade. Discounts on digital cameras and camcorders abound across the board-- and those with a little extra money to spend can find some incredible deals.

A New Car

People who know about the industry predict that the next year or so will bring the best buys in cars and trucks seen in decades-- and maybe the best that will ever be seen. While a few years ago auto manufacturers were selling about 15 million cars a year, this year they're in line to sell only 9 million or so. Dealerships are trying to get their cars out of their showrooms as fast as humanly possible... and the result is unbelievable deals. Plus low interest rates. Plus a tax cut for automobile buyers in some countries. You just can't beat it.

A New Home

We saw it very recently all over the world with the housing industry: what goes up must come down. Fortunately for home buyers, though, what comes down also tends to go back up again. Many believe that it will be 2011 before housing prices begin to rise again. But that's a good thing for those who have the means to buy a new house now. In some areas of the United States in particular (Florida, Arizona) housing prices are 50% lower than they were a few years ago. With mortgage rates falling and housing prices at an all-time low, there's never been a better time to buy. If you can.
