How to Be Romantic With Your Man

Being romantic with a woman is easy. You write her a poem on your free internet dating site, you buy her flowers, or you wash the dishes after dinner. Most women love those thoughtful touches, and love to feel romanced. But with men, it's all too easy to cross over from being romantic to just being... strange. While men enjoy romance, too, the kind they crave tends to look a lot different from what most women look for.

Want to romance your man without embarrassing him with a bouquet of flowers that match his sparkling blue eyes? Here's how.

1. Look sexy. For men, romance is more about sex than it is for women. Very visual, men love to know that what they're seeing is something you've put on especially for them. So instead of buying him a bouquet of flowers for a nice dinner on the town, buy that sexy dress (or, even better, sexy lingerie) that you know he'll love. Even if it's not to your taste, pick something that you know he'll go crazy over. Sure, "French maid" might not be your first fashion choice, but he'll feel more than romanced if you fulfill some of his fantasies... whether it be over dinner or in the bedroom.

Still internet dating your man? You can do this same thing with naughty pictures. Perhaps a little less satisfying (in fact, it should be frustrating if you do it right!), but still a love of fun.

2. Show him you need him. It may sound like a bit of a cliché, but it's true: most men yearn to feel appreciated and needed. After all, fulfilling a role in a woman's life is what, historically, men's romantic attachments are based on. Even if you're not normally the type to ask for help, do it anyway when you want to make him feel great about you and your relationship. From opening a jar to changing your car battery to helping you figure out a new computer program, asking him for help is bound to make him feel good. Want to make him feel even better? Thank him and compliment him profusely for his help. Being needed and useful is a large part of a man's feeling of self-worth, and is a great way to make him happy.

3. Touch him. For men, love and romance is less about words than it is about contact. Think about it... how many times have you heard a man tell you that he would rather show you how he feels about you than tell you all the time? Telling him how you feel in his own language --touch-- is a great way to be romantic without making him feel strange. Caressing his leg, touching his arm, and just being near him is the best way to show him how you feel.

4. Make a sacrifice for him. Just like you would appreciate for your man to take you to the ballet when you hate it, or to a restaurant he doesn't really enjoy, men can sometimes feel the same way. When you show interest in their lives outside of what you know or are generally interested in, it shows them that you're focused on them; that you care enough to be involved in other parts of their lives. Ask him about his favorite hobby and give him a chance to open up about it. Even if you're not interested in doing an activity or even hearing about it, showing him you're willing to listen or even try something new is definitely going to make him feel romanced.

5. Trust him. This one kind of goes along with number two above. Trusting your man with your problems or your secrets pumps up his ego, and makes him feel loved and needed. That kind of trust is both important for making a relationship work, and a big part of bonding with your partner.

Sometimes romance lies in the places you least expect it. And it's perfectly possible that what you might think of as romantic is, to a man, pretty insignificant. But just because most men don't enjoy "traditional" romance doesn't mean they don't want to be romanced. It just means you have to find the right way to go about it.
