How To Survive A Couple’s Road Trip

Yeah, I’m sure your relationship is as solid and lovey-dovey as any relationship in history ever was. But if the two of you have never gone on a long car trip together, then forgive me for saying that you have no idea what you’re really made of as a couple. Taking to the road together can be one of the most romantic bonding experiences the two of you will ever have. I couldn’t recommend anything more highly.

However, you have to be realistic about the fact that with that much continuous one-on-one time, with nowhere (literally) to run to, you need to prepare yourself. And I don’t just mean mentally…actually preparing yourself by packing things that make both of you comfortable and taken care of is the best way to stave off any bickering mid-ride.

In advance of our first genuine road trip together, I recently picked my boyfriend’s brain for a list of what he thinks are essential items to pack if we’re both to stay sane in the car. I was both surprised by his picks and genuinely pleased at his forethought. Cross your fingers for us and we’ll do the same for you and your sweetie:

1. Painkillers

No one likes to be stuck in the car with a bitchy, crampy, headache-y mess of a girl. Or a guy, come to think of it.

2. Music

Both of you should load up your iPods and make sure they’re stocked with amazing mixes. You’ll have plenty of time, so play with themes: quintessential road trip anthems, new music you are sure your love hasn’t heard and will adore, a mellow mix, a rock-out mix, a hilarious pop-hits-of-yesteryear mix…you get the idea. Oh and don’t be greedy…you have to share DJ duties or someone is getting pissed.

3. Luna Bars

Okay, maybe that was Boyfriend’s me-specific answer (I might be a little addicted to Luna Bars, I admit) but the idea works universally. Keep in mind that you’re going to be traveling in remote locations where the odds of finding whatever weird food item you love are slim. Plan ahead to avoid annoying cravings. Guys, if you secretly pack a stash of your gal’s favorite treats, you get major bonus points. And maybe road head.

4. Tampons

It’s pretty much a given that all random roadside gas station bathrooms will be perpetually out of feminine hygiene products. Even if you’re two weeks away from Aunt Flo time, pack the Tampax, just in case.

5. Sunglasses

A beautiful sunset is magical and all, but not when you’re headed west during the latter part of the day. Sun in the eyes makes everyone cranky.

6. Lip balm / lotion

A whole day of AC and desert air can wreak havoc on one’s skin and lips. Making sure you come equipped with the essentials for keeping yourself moisturized and feelin’ fine is important.

7. Hair ties!

Oh, mega kudos to Boyfriend for thinking of this, since I so often don’t. Because there’s no greater feeling than romantically hauling ass down a deserted road, just the two of you, windows down, wind whipping…unless that wind happens to be annoyingly whipping your hair all up in your face.

Attractive, ambitious & young. There are many college students, aspiring actresses or someone just starting out on Sugarbabymeet.c0m. You could seek a generous Benefactor to pamper, mentor and take care of you — perhaps to help you financially?
