Sure, clean lines and simple designs can be relaxing and easy on the eye. But if you’re trying to be a little seductive, being in a sparsely decorated room can feel sort of like making love in a hospital. Instead, make the space intimate, cozy, and welcoming. Don’t be afraid to pile up on comfy, sensual-feeling pillows in wonderful-to-touch fabrics. Feather, fur, satin, lace, leather, velvet… you get the idea.
That strange Z-shaped chair you bought at Ikea might look cool, but you can bet that it’s not going to be very inviting for a long make out session. Banish it to the living room.

Instead of opting for soothing, simple neutrals, add a little bit of theatre to your bedroom with dark, sultry colors. Try deep purples, pinks, reds, and black… and don’t be afraid to use deep, rich colors on the walls. Don’t want to go all out with dark purple wallpaper? Use these colors for bedspreads and window coverings.
For maximum sexiness, use plenty of elegant, evocative accessories throughout the room. Want to create an Arabian Nights feel? Decorate with Eastern style accessories and accents. Don’t be afraid to add glamorous, romantic touches, like dramatic glass lamps and elegant carved dressers.

There’s something ultra dramatic --and quite sexy-- about a stage-like bed. No, you don’t necessarily need to set up a video camera (though that might be great for some!)… but you can choose furniture that really makes the bed the centerpiece of the room. Any bed on a raised platform, or with canopy or four-poster detailing, will give your bedroom that “sex on a stage” feel.
Unless you have loads of space, chances are your current bedroom is littered with stuff that has nothing to do with seduction. And while it’s hard to find a place for your Stairmaster or noisy Inkjet printer, you should try. Boring, utilitarian items will ruin the illusion of a perfect love nest.
Now, please don’t glue mirrors onto the entire ceiling of the bedroom-- unless you want to make porn films or creep out potential partners. Instead, place a few small mirrors throughout the room to create depth… and to give you and your partner sexy glimpses of one-another’s softly-lighted bodies from across the room.

Is your idea of a sexy ambiance Barry White softly crooning on the stereo, a hundred candles glowing throughout the room, and a bottle of the finest “Champ-pag-na” on the nightstand? Then you’re probably going a bit overboard on ambiance.
While it’s easy to go over the top on ambiance and wind up crossing the border into Creepy Town, a bit of ambiance can make all the difference. Start with a little soft music on the stereo. Skip the Bryan Adams and Barry White, and go with something that you actually like. Jazz and soul are always good choices-- go “old time romance” with Billie Holiday or Louis Armstrong.
You’ll also want some candles around the room. You don’t want to make your potential partner suspect that you’ve invited him or her for a séance instead of a seduction… so keep the number of candles to a reasonable (and non-creepy) level. It they have a soft smell to them, so much the better. But don’t choke your partner on an overdose of incense.
