The Art of Meditation
Expanding your consciousness to re-energize

Lots of people ask me how to meditate. They fear that they are not doing it right, nothing is happening or are being too controlling and can’t allow themselves to just ‘let go’. The most important thing to remember about meditation is that it is ‘your’ meditation and you cannot ever do it wrong. The second most important thing to remember is to do it consistently in order for you to feel and ‘get’ any results whatsoever. Meditation calms and sooths the soul, it’s a place where your ego mind can just let go and allow your true self (the inner soul) to communicate with you. Communication is not always in actual words (that comes later) but it’s a place where you begin to feel ‘like home again’. It’s a sacred place and a place where one should go to often for their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

This form of meditation that I have taught to many of my clients and perform myself as well, I like to call ‘Expansion Meditation’ because we ‘expand’ our consciousness out into other dimensions to re-energize and recharge our energetic bodies (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual). It is best performed at night as you are drifting off to sleep. You will find by consistently performing this meditation every night you will notice a certain calmness and easiness that you are not accustomed to feeling and a general overall sense of well being, not to mention in better spirits on awaking and have more energy throughout the day.

You can also use this meditation to boost your energy if you become fatigued throughout the day. A simple 15-30 minutes session would do. In other words, instead of a catnap, meditate instead. You will find yourself energized and refreshed, clear headed and grounded as opposed to groggy and more fatigued and generally sorry that you chose to have a nap at all.

First and foremost, as with all forms of meditation, ground yourself

There is no point in connecting to other dimensions if you are ungrounded. If you don’t you will find the meditation makes you very dizzy and fatigued. So for those of you who think you are not doing it right, I ask, did you ground yourself? The next question of course is how. How is actually, very, very simple.

Picture yourself standing next to a tree, a big and strong tree with beautiful thick roots coming up from the ground. Focus all your attention on your feet as you picture the tree. When you begin to feel the roots of the tree, you will be grounded. Stay in this place for as long as you need to until you become calm and relaxed. Now begin to focus your attention on your breathing….begin breathing until your breath is slow and relaxed. You naturally begin to breathe erratically once you focus your attention on it. This will diminish the more you become familiar with the exercise. Simply breathing in and out until you have deep and relaxed breaths. Your body will begin to feel warm and very, very relaxed.

Now, become aware of your entire body and see/feel the energy surrounding your body

You may picture lights or see it swirling around you. Whatever you see/feel is right because it is YOU. Now begin to effortlessly ‘push’ the energy (which is you) all around you in a circumference. Don’t rush it or force it. Simply allow it to move on its own because if your attention and your will are to do so then it naturally will. This is your consciousness and your will that you are expanding out into the universe. You may become aware of images, people, loved ones and generally a whole array of images that pass very quickly before you. Don’t try to ‘Define', 'Interpret' or 'Understand’ the images. That is not its purpose in showing themselves to you. Simply let them be and pass you by. You want to come to a place where there is no definition. No definition of what you see, feel or hear. You have no judgment and no expectations of what is occurring.

Stay in the place for as long as you wish

All the benefits described above are increased exponentially the longer you can remain in this place. When you are ready to return, simply state your intention in your mind or out loud that you want to return to your grounding tree. You should immediately become aware of your tree and you can slowly open your eyes and continue on with your day or go to sleep.

For now, I want you to focus on these steps and become proficient in them. Later I will explain how you can treat illness and disease, provide protection and create what you want in your life. Relax and enjoy.
