Top Places to Travel to With your New Soul Mate
by Chloe ◊ August 28, 2008
When you're dating somebody new, and start to get that "this is the one!" feeling in the pit of your stomach, you're going to want to spend every moment with that person. Laughing, being in bed, eating together, being in bed, and... did I mention being in bed? All you want to is to be close and be together and enjoy the drunkenness of new love.
The best way to get all of the above? Go on a romantic vacation together.
When you're in love, pretty much any destination will seem romantic to you. That landfill next door to your hotel will smell like roses when you're nuzzled up against your new partner. But there are some (landfill-free) destinations that will take your romantic vacation to a whole new level. In other words, to paradise.
Paris
There's a reason why couch-jumping Tom Cruise decided to propose to Katie Holmes at the top of the Eiffel Tower: Paris is the city of lovers. There is something about the city and the culture, the over-the-top gorgeousness of the architecture, the softly flowing river, the wine and the history, that fills couples with a sort of drunken pleasure. Perhaps Paris is special because the French are famous for taking their time to enjoy life; they know how to enjoy a glass of wine, a slow kiss, a hand-held walk along the Seine. And when you're in Paris, so do you.
A tip: don't go in February unless you want to spend your whole vacation huddled under the covers in your hotel. Wait a second... that might not be such a bad idea, after all.
Hawaii, the Caribbean, etc
It almost doesn't matter which one! When you're in love, there's nothing like the gorgeous isolation of being away on an island together. Whether you're in the Caribbean, on the Hawaiian Islands, in Fiji, or wherever... there's something incredibly private and romantic about an island destination. Plus, there's nothing sexier than a pre-bedroom suntan lotion run-down and a bikini-clad romp on the beach. Break out the Mai Tais, baby.
Venice
The Italians are known for being romantic people, and Venice is the perfect city for lovers. With long, sparkling canals, cobbled streets, and quiet corners, Venice is the perfect city for long walks, great wine, and stolen street-corner kisses. No trip is complete without a ride on one of this city's oh-so-famous gondolas.
The California Wine Country
Whether you go to Napa or Sonoma Valley, there is nothing quite as romantic as a vacation in the wine country. Imagine it now; long bike-rides under a gently golden sun, quiet picnics with cheese, bread and a bottle of Chardonnay. With gorgeous scenery, heady wine, and plenty to do, a trip to the wine country is the perfect way to enjoy being with your new partner. Oh, don't forget to bring a bottle of wine or two back to the hotel room with you!
A Cruise
With most vacation destinations, there are a ton of things you want to do. Museums you want to see, landmarks you want to visit, spectacles you want to watch. And while a cruise is never going to be boring, it can be relaxing in a way that no other vacation can. Because you don't have anywhere to go! You can just hang out and brown by the pool, drink fizzy cocktails, and save your energy for the bedroom. Plus, it's one of those special places where you get to dress up and dance for dinner, giving it an old-time romantic feel that you won't find in many other places.
Bon voyage!
