We’re constantly hearing about how the US economy isn’t doing so hot right now, and hasn’t been for a little while. It’s becoming obvious that we aren’t going to get directly out of this financial muck for at least a little while. And when problems like these come along, these unchangeable little truths that have the potential to seriously negatively impact all aspects of our lives, I have a strong tendency to start looking for the silver lining.
When did it happen that blogs are suddenly everywhere? I mean, everywhere. This internet dating site even has a blog! One day, they weren’t a part of our lives at all and now, well, they’re unavoidable. Everyone’s got one, on every topic imaginable. Maybe it’s a hazard (or is it a perk? Hmm) of being a writer who spends all day attached to a laptop, but perusing the myriad of weblogs out there has become a favorite time-wasting distraction.
Human beings are interesting creatures. We are going through life, tending to the normal functions that we’re designed to do (eating, sleeping, sometimes making new people, aging…internet dating, all that natural stuff) but in between all that, we have this highly, sometimes annoyingly active mind that makes us think about everything else we could or should be doing. No matter what is taken, being stolen from can feel like a really terrible violation. Whether somebody's come into your home, plucked your wallet from your back pocket, or just copied the content from your internet dating profile without asking, having something taken from you feels terrible. But nothing feels quite as bad as identity theft. And nothing is quite as dangerous, either.
Years ago, flying used to be fun. People would actually consider it to be an enjoyable part of a vacation or a business trip. They'd dress in their best, they'd have a martini, and they'd sit back and enjoy the ride. Hard to imagine today, isn't it?
The real estate market has always been the sort of place you want to navigate at your own risk. But at almost no time has it been less difficult to navigate than it is now. However, just because the real estate market isn't a safe place to play these days doesn't mean that you will never need to get a new home. Things happen in your life. You meet Mr. or Ms. Wonderful on an internet dating site and move across the country to be with them. Or you get a new job and have to relocate to another city. Life goes on, difficult economy or no.
