What Your Date's Favorite Food Says About Them

Menu

1. Sushi. Sushi is the simplest, cleanest, most methodical of foods. Each stage of preparation requires knowledge, experience, and just the right method. Sushi tends to appeal to people who love clean, pure flavors-- and this preference may stray into other areas of their life, as well. A person who loves sushi may tend to be organized and methodical. Or, hey, maybe they just love fish.

2. Mom's pot roast. Have you listened as your internet dating partner goes on and on about Mom's pot roast or meatloaf or fried chicken? We all have those foods that bring us straight back to our family's dining room table with one little bite. If those favorite foods are what your sweetie craves most, it shows a sentimental streak a mile wide.

3. Pizza. Somebody who prefers pizza over any other food is a homey, no-nonsense person. He or she may prefer to avoid the noise and nuisance of your average sit-down restaurant. Does this make them lazy? Not necessarily. But a true love of pizza comes from long afternoons with an extra large pie and the TV on.

4. Indian food. In general, people who love Indian food tend to be experimental, open minded, and full of life. Sound like a stretch? Think about it this way: if you love to torture yourself with a burning mouth for an hour in order to enjoy the endorphins it brings, you definitely enjoy living big. There's nothing subtle about Indian flavors, which means your partner might be a bit on the bold side, too.

5. Fast food. Eating fast food is either about indulgence or the lack thereof. Some people eat it because they're in a rush-- they can't or won't make time for a sit-down meal. Others eat it because it's rich and sinful and delicious. They love to indulge themselves, which probably means they'll love to indulge you, too. Not necessarily a bad thing, right?

6. A candy bar or sweet snack. Besides telling you that your partner has a bit of a sweet tooth, a love for candy bars and the like may also mean that he or she has a loyal streak. Most people have the same favorite candy bars during the whole course of their lives. If it was a favorite when they were 10, chances are it's still their favorite now.

7. Haute cuisine. Haute cuisine (think Michelin stars) is all about indulgence and sensuality. People who truly love to eat this way are those who like to take time over the good things in life. They're patient and sensual and indulgent... qualities that tend to translate well from the dining room to the bedroom.

8. Salads or veggie-based meals. This one is pretty clear-cut. Most people who really enjoy vegetarian meals or salad are conscientious, active, and have a good connection with their bodies. They eat healthy for a reason, and care more about long-term health than momentary enjoyment. Which probably means they have a lot more to enjoy as their lives wear on.

9. Spanish tapas. If you've never had Spanish tapas, they're made up of small dishes of all your favorite things-- you never eat just one. People who love tapas are those who want to have their cake and eat it too, so to speak. Even if they can't decide what they want, they get to have it anyway.

10. Ice cream. Ice cream is rich, it's sensual, and it's all about feeling good. People who love ice cream like to take to take things slow... you can't eat it very quickly, but there's no doubt that every bite tastes amazing. And who knows, maybe your date will be just as melt-in-your-mouth delicious.
