When V-Day Feels More Like C-Day

It might only feel like celibacy will be the climax on Valentine’s Day; then again if the weekend is drawing closer and there’s nary a whisper of romance and sex in the air, you might have found yourself a dud in the romance department! Your V-day might turn out to be just a skimpy ol’ C-day (Celibacy day).

Even if it were to end up that way, consider that there are couples who actually don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day. For them, February 14th is a day that is forced on relationships and they prefer to kind of boycott the whole thing out of principle.

I know of a few couples who deliberately don’t celebrate and even hate the celebration of the now, very commercialized Valentine’s Day. They stage an all out protest against anything Valentine-ish calling it "sexual propaganda" and refuse to add to the millions that companies like Victoria's Secret and La Senza rake in.

The amount of red, pink and black sexy little things are many when February 14th rolls into town. My boyfriend calls them my “five-minute” attire, though sometimes it’s even less than five! But the couples I know who boycott Valentine’s Day deliberately become celibate for that day and night. They call it their C-day where not having sex is part of their physical stand on the issue, though technically masturbation is permitted. I just want to know who buys the batteries!

Back to gift giving…I personally don’t know any woman who doesn’t like to be romanced, surprised, wined, dined and ravaged later on. But it sure puts a lot of pressure on a relationship, some of it very palpable.

Women, just know that you might have a man who doesn’t know how to find or express his romantic side. So what happens? Your man gives up, saying that Valentine’s Day is just silly.
Some men are just not romantic while most will follow the crowd with typical flowers and candy or chocolate. But let’s be perfectly clear here. You picked you bed mate, didn't cha? Your name is tattooed all over his ass with the type of relationship you bargained for and perhaps don’t want to have anymore.

If you want more than your man can, or will, give freely in the romance department, then perhaps finding another lover is the choice for you. Just remember that V-day is not a reason for breaking up, but it could be the straw that breaks Cupid's back.

Depending on how intimate your connection is, V-day is generally expected to be celebrated with something: sex, a gift or both. If you expect more from V-day and get nothing but a C-day, perhaps you need a new caretaker of your v-jay-jay.
