Some information about Chengde, Hebei

An ancient city and deemed one of the country's national scenic spots. It is home to one of the largest imperial gardens in China. Attractions include the Mountain Resort, completely surrounded by a 10km wall and the Eight Outer Monasteries, with each temple originally built to reflect the different architectural styles of different minority group. They both offer historical and cultural artifacts as well as spectacular views. For relaxation, one can visit the Qibao Wenquan or Qibao natural Hot Springs just a short distance away. One should be prepared for some adventurous cuisine such as scorpions and camels' paws.
