Kitchener, Ontario founded in 1833 and was formerly known as the Town of Berlin currently has a population of 422,514. Located in southwestern Ontario in the Waterloo Region which includes Waterloo and Cambridge. Due to it’s unique German heritage, Kitchener is best known for it’s annual nine-day event of Oktoberfest being North America’s largest Bavarian Festival which is held every October before Canadian Thanksgiving holiday. There are historic sites to visit including homes of the Mennonites, skiing in the winter and the local Old Order Mennonites can be seen at the St. Jacob’s market.
