Some information about Garda

Garda is the most easterly of the northern Italian lakes, and is also the largest, stretching 32 miles in length and 11 1/2 miles in width at its widest point. It is sheltered by mountains, and its scenery, especially the part on the western shore that reaches from Limone to Salo, has often been compared to that of the Mediterranean. Here you will see olive, orange, lemon and palm trees growing in the area. Take the turnoff to Tignale, in the hills where you can climb a modern highway to the town for a sweeping vista of Garda, where you will enjoy one of the most scenic spots on the entire lake. Recreational activities include enjoying a swim in the lake or pool, rent windsurfers on the graveled beach and enjoy one of the many popular and elegant eateries either outdoors on balconies or indoors. Typical dishes include freshly prepared antipasti, risotto with cuttlefish, or crepes fondue. Polenta is served with Gorgonzola cheese and walnuts, or tasty fillet of beef in a beer sauce.
