Some information about Merano (meran)

Formerly the Austrian capitol of Tyrol, it retains much of its Austrian heritage. It was once one of the most famous resorts in Europe in the days gone by of kings and queen from many countries. It becomes especially popular in the autumn when their famous Merano grapes are harvested. It also offers radioactive waters, in which ailing bathers enjoy relief from gout to rheumatism. It offers splendid vistas and mountain hotels throughout, open-air swimming pools, tennis courts, and a race track.
