These are simple yet elegant (and tasty). Perfect hostess gift.
1 pkg (6 sqs) Bakers Bittersweet Chocolate, chopped
3/4 cup butter
1 1/4 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 3/4 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/3 cup candy canes, chopped
Microwave chocolate and butter on MEDIUM 2 min or until butter is melted.
Remove from microwave and stir until chocolate is completely melted.
Stir in sugar.
Add eggs, 1 at a time, mixing until well blended after each addition.
Add combined flour and baking powder; mix well.
DOUGH WILL BE VERY SOFT.
Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours or overnight.
PREHEAT oven to 350F.
Roll heaping teaspoonsuls of dough into 1 in balls.
Place 2 in apart on greased baking sheet.
Bake 9 to 11 min or until lightly browned (DO NOT OVERBAKE).
Remove from oven, sprinkle immediately with chopped candy canes.
Cool completely on wire racks.
Store in airtight container at room temperature.
Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
