I just want all the women out there to because who you are talking to. I recently was scammed out of money from a man I met on this website who I thought was an honest, caring, trusting, all around nice guy. He blew me away. He was almost everything I was looking for in a man. Just a warning BE CAREFUL. Don't let any guy tell you they love you quickly, that they will come visit you and then all of a sudden how an "EMERGENCY". This has left my heart and pocketbook empty. Where are all the "REAL" men out there?

if the initial message looks anything like this:
"Hey How are you doing ...My name is Bonny , I am a single Lady here with a good and kind heart , I came across your Profile and will like to get to know you. I am easy going with lots of Love and affection to offer , If you don't mind we can talk on yahoo messenger and send emails to each other my yahoo ID is Bonny_la and my email is Bonny_la@ymail.com. We can as well share Pictures . Looking forward to hear from you Bonny"
just report them as scammers, there is a 99.999999999% chance they are...
ironically!!! every message i have received here, looks exactly the same, the names change.
happy hunting,
p.s. dont send me a message like this or i will report You to :)

Yes I too recieve such mail. They write a few letters and then ask for money. People never let your heart lead you on the internet be smart. I tell them no way will i send money until we have first met. The usaully quite writting then. But am happy to say I have met someone on another site and they are traveling a great distance so we can meet each other. I am so surprised because i usualy offer to do the traveling and they insisted they will spend the money to see me first.

I got a message similar to the one above. Instead of 'Bonnie' her name was 'Catherine Burke' & she was from Phoenix, Arizona. Sent me pics In just 2 email exchanges she said ' I love you"
Funny every question I asked about her never was answered. Any way in another email she said she was stuck in Nigeria! Needed $570 for 'hospital bills'! Suffice 2 say never sent the money.

anyone not in your geographical jurisdiction is suspect. Especially when their some 20 years younger...come on. "Hey, I just inherited 20 million US dollars here in Nigeria and need to deposit into your US bank account in exchange for 20% fee..." SOUND FAMILIAR?
People are so naive.

I have yet to ever meet any real people through the internet.. I'm mainly here for the amusement.
Raised in Alaska, where it's been notorious for the unbalanced ratio of men to woman, I quickly learned how to just start conversations.. be charming yet honest.. and to have fun is the best way to meet people.
I know not everyone has the skills, confidence or persona for that.. and perhaps these kind of services are needed so there's less pressure in a face to face meeting.. being able to open up better online.. but unfortunately, those insecure types of traits coupled with desperation, are just what these scammers prey on. a desperate person will extend them selves out further and take chances an otherwise fulfilled person wouldn't take.
I also suppose though, that even in real life, you have to be skeptical of people you first meet. Taking time to know them and meeting them, their friends and family, before you consider letting the relationship get serious. If you keep that in mind, it should be quite easy to outsmart the scammers, because you should treat people you meet online with the same skepticism. If they can't let you friend up in their face book, so you can see what kind of person they are, and who they hang out with.. then you shouldn't be willing to give them anything either.

@CHAOSinACT,
Scamming and spamming is a serious problem on the internet - dating sites in specific. We do everything we can to stay on top of it. We have sophisticated algorithms that can identify scammers based on their familiar behavior. Even though we are able to block many of these people each day, there are still some that slip through the cracks. Thousands of messages are exchanged through Datepad on a daily basis - It's difficult at best to catch the scammers.
A big part of our prevention system relies on our users to report suspicious emails and activity.
We will continue to do everything we can to prevent such people from using our service.

Just adding a custom age and distance filter would be a BIG help. I have yet to receive a single a message from anyone that wasn't at least 20 years younger than me, lived anywhere close, and didn't have a yahoo address in it. I think most people are looking for dates within a certain distance and age range.

I am new to online dating. I saw that most of my e-mails were similar. I wondered why that was, then I thought, There are scammers in my yahoo address, why not here. I didn't know how to tell, then I found this forum. Thank you for all the help. I gave one person my e-mail address, He wanted me to call him, gave me his phone#, but I had a bad feeling about it. The first part of his letter he was speaking very intelegent, but the last couple of lines it looked like someone else was writing. I am a real person, looking for someone. I just want to have fun here. not scamm or be scammed. Thank you.

I have had alot as well, and they sound almost foreign the way they type. They will say, You pretty girl, I'm lovin' yolu so much. I'm wanting to know more about you. Crap like that, how can someone love you and not know you, kinda a dead give away right there. Its horrible not to know who's genuine and who's not.
