So what does it really mean when he asks "What's for dinner?"

Could it be;

I'm far too busy to think of something, you do it.
I have better things to do, you do it.
My brain is too tired to think of anything, you do it.
I have no idea what's in the fridge, you do it.
Dinner is your responsibility, you do it.
I'm hungry NOW.
I'm too lazy, you do it.
My mother always cooked for me, so you should too.

I prefer to think it means 'you're such a fantastic cook and the dinner you made last night was sooooo good, I'm hoping for a repeat!"

Let's all be realistic....we could all easily say "I don't know honey, what IS for dinner?"

In other words...YOU DO IT!

Well if it's not ready or cooking and you have to ask then it's dinner out.

If you pretend to be useless right from the beginning, you can ask HIM "What's for dinner?"..
Be careful with this path though. A lot of men's best recipes have condensed soup and/or dried meat.. That or it will be barbecue nightly :P.. You may never see a real vegetable again.

I'll just marry a chef :P
